Frostifiesta : Christmas day celebration

The Christmas celebration at our college was held on 23rd December 2025, Tuesday, from 10.00 a.m. to 2.30 p.m., filling the campus with joy, warmth, and festive spirit. The occasion was graced by the presence of our honourable Bishop, who served as the chief guest for the day.

The programme commenced at 10.00 a.m. with the official function. It began on a serene note with a prayer song beautifully rendered by the union member Arsha T Rachel setting the tone for the celebration. This was followed by a warm welcome address delivered by our respected Principal. The Chairman then delivered the presidential address, after which the Bishop shared an inspiring Christmas message that emphasized love, unity, and compassion. The official function concluded with felicitation, marking a dignified beginning to the celebration.

Following the formal session, the stage came alive with cultural programmes. Students enthusiastically showcased their talents through a variety of performances such as music, dance, and tableau, making the celebration vibrant and memorable. Each performance reflected creativity, teamwork, and festive cheer.

One of the most special moments for me personally was being part of the English Department’s fusion dance performance, where we blended different Christmas songs into a single presentation. I had the opportunity to perform during the third and fourth songs. Although I had learned the dance just a day prior and momentarily forgot a few steps, the performance turned out to be smooth and enjoyable. More than perfection, it was the memories created on stage that made the experience truly unforgettable—memories I will cherish for a long time.

As the Vice Chairperson, the day held even greater significance for me. I was actively involved in organizing and coordinating the programme, ensuring that arrangements were in place and the events proceeded without delay. Like any event organizer, I felt nervous before each segment—wondering whether everything would go as planned or if unexpected challenges might arise. However, each responsibility helped me grow, shaping my confidence, leadership skills, organizational ability, and interpersonal relationships. Every task contributed to moulding me into a better individual and, most importantly, a better teacher in the making.

While the celebration was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone, I also reflected on areas of improvement. The only shortcoming I observed was a slight delay in scheduling, which caused minor gaps between events. This experience taught me the importance of time management, and I am determined to ensure a smoother flow in future programmes to avoid boredom and maintain audience engagement.

Celebrating Numbers and Ideas: Maths Exhibition on National Mathematics Day

As part of the National Mathematics Day celebrations, the MAX Department organized a vibrant and thoughtful Maths Exhibition on 22nd December 2025 (Monday) from 2.00 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. in the Maths Optional Classroom. The exhibition served as a creative platform for students to express mathematical ideas beyond textbooks and formulas, highlighting the relevance of mathematics in everyday life—both implicitly and explicitly.

The students showcased a variety of exhibits such as charts, working models, puzzles, and interactive mathematical games. Each exhibit reflected not only conceptual understanding but also creativity and innovation. Special effort was taken to make mathematics engaging and enjoyable through brainstorming games that encouraged logical thinking and active participation. The atmosphere created was lively and intellectually stimulating, making mathematics appear less abstract and more connected to real-life situations.

Despite the limited time and hectic schedule, the dedication and effort put in by the students were truly praiseworthy and appreciable. Though modest in scale, the exhibition carried a unique significance of its own and conveyed a meaningful story about the beauty and applicability of mathematics. Overall, the event turned out to be a meaningful and informative exhibition, successfully organized by the Maths Department with the support of the Class Tutor, Ms. Sreeleksmi, leaving a lasting impression on all who visited.

I found the exhibition helpful and interesting as a person who finds the subject difficult. The Maths department students was successful in arousing curiosity among other students which is infact the departments join victory.

Art Workshop: Day 01

On May 16, 2025, we attended an enriching art workshop conducted by an external resource person, Ms. Rupa. The session began at 10:00 a.m. and turned out to be both inspiring and informative.

Ms. Rupa is not only a qualified teacher but also someone who has transformed her passion for craft into a meaningful profession. She began the workshop by sharing her personal journey. Although she had been fascinated by craft since childhood, she was unable to pursue it initially due to a lack of family support. However, during the lockdown period, she rekindled her interest and began learning various craft techniques through YouTube and other online platforms. Today, she successfully creates crafts for weddings, welcome bouquets, and several other occasions, proving that passion and perseverance can lead to success.

She also spoke about her academic life, which was equally inspiring. Holding three postgraduate degrees and currently pursuing a PhD, Ms. Rupa beautifully balanced her roles as an educator and an artist. Her story motivated us to believe that learning and creativity can go hand in hand.

The hands-on session started with bottle art. As some students did not bring bottles, we shared materials, fostering teamwork and cooperation. Ms. Rupa explained each step in detail—cleaning the bottle, using a sponge for painting, and applying printed tissue paper. She introduced us to several materials used in bottle art, many of which were new to us, and guided us patiently whenever mistakes occurred.

In the afternoon session, we moved on to making paper flowers. Using materials like crepe paper, metal rods, and green tape, Ms. Rupa demonstrated the process step by step and then encouraged us to try it ourselves. The flower I made was far from perfect—it was quite ugly, to be honest—but it was special because it was created with my own hands. Despite its imperfections, I treasure it, as it represents my effort and learning.

Before this workshop, I had very little interest in craft and never thought of it as something enjoyable. However, this session changed my perspective. I discovered a small spark of passion for craft and realized that I might have some hidden talent after all. The teacher also informed that there will be another workshop where we wil be learning to make the rest of the three items which she was not able to complete it today.

Overall, the workshop was enjoyable, inspiring, and informative. It not only taught us new skills but also encouraged us to explore creativity beyond our comfort zones. It was truly a memorable experience.

Workshop : Leadership Training

On 11th December 2025, as part of our EDU 01 paper, we had the opportunity to attend an inspiring workshop led by Dr. John sir from BVET, Chattanoor. The session, conducted in the seminar hall from 10.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m., focussed on the theme Leadership training.

John Sir approached the topic in a highly engaging way. Through a variety of interactive games, he helped us realize that leadership is not limited to one skill or trait. Instead, it is a combination of several components such as spontaneity, quick decision-making, and the ability to distinguish between right and wrong in dynamic situations. Each activity encouraged us to step out of our comfort zones and think critically, allowing us to reflect on our own potential as leaders.

One of the most impactful parts of the workshop was sir's emphasis on the teacher’s role in shaping students’ lives. Using real-life examples from counseling sessions, he highlighted the importance of recognizing the diversity within an inclusive classroom. He reminded us that as future educators, we are likely to meet students with intellectual disabilities, hyperactivity, introversion, and various other behavioral differences.

Sir stressed that these children must be treated with the same warmth and normalcy as any other student. He gave us practical strategies on how to support, include, and uplift them in the classroom environment. His slides beautifully captured how a teacher can act as a leader, mentor, and change agent, helping every child feel valued and empowered.

The workshop concluded with a heartfelt feedback session, where students shared their thoughts and learning experiences. One student expressed her happiness in meeting  Sir again, as she had previously visited his center— a special school for children with diverse needs. Her words reflected the admiration and respect many of us felt for John sir dedication and expertise.

As the day came to an end, we were left with a deeper understanding of what leadership truly means in the field of education. The session broadened our perspective on dealing with learners of varied backgrounds and behaviors. More importantly, it reminded us that teachers hold the power to transform lives—not just through knowledge, but through empathy, guidance, and inclusive leadership.

Nature Club Inauguration 2025: A Day of Learning, Awareness & Green Action

December 10, 2025, turned out to be one of the most inspiring days of our academic year as we gathered in Serna Hall for the much-awaited Nature Club inauguration. The event, which began at 10 AM, brought together students, Nature Club members, the union management, and our batchmates—all united by a shared love for nature.

The program opened with a soulful prayer song, followed by a heartfelt welcome speech. The presidential address set the tone for the day, highlighting the importance of creating environmental awareness within and beyond the campus.

Our club advisor, Dr. Praveena ma'am, then delivered a thoughtful message, sharing a personal experience involving a snake incident that affected her deeply. She spoke honestly about the trauma it caused and her ongoing journey of overcoming her fear—an experience that connected beautifully with the theme of the day.

The event’s momentum grew with the arrival of our chief guest, Roj Vavasuresh, a well-known snake master. Before the formal inauguration, a symbolic planting of a sapling took place in the college garden—marking the beginning of a greener chapter for our campus.

In his inaugural address, the union chairman emphasized the importance of Nature Clubs in schools and colleges, especially for teacher trainees who must learn to coordinate and run such clubs in the future. This was followed by an engaging and eye-opening interactive session with the chief guest.

He spoke about:  how to identify snakes, what to do in case of a snake bites, first aids to be given, his personal journey of becoming a snake master. One of the most striking parts of his talk was his explanation on snake venom—how it is not only dangerous but also highly medicinal, even being used in treatments such as cancer therapy. He reminded us that snakes do not attack unless provoked and that humans and snakes can coexist peacefully by respecting each other's space.

Students also participated actively, asking questions and clearing their doubts. The chief guest appreciated our curiosity and engagement, leaving the session on a very positive note.

After the official function, from 2:00 to 2:45 PM, the Nature Club members and students took part in a campus beautification by planting trees, removing weeds. The activity filled the campus with fresh energy, positivity, and a true sense of collective responsibility.

My Experience at the Macro-Teaching Demonstration: A Glimpse Into Real Classroom Practice

The macro-teaching demonstration for the first-year B.Ed trainees was held on 08 December 2025, from 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This session was an important part of our teacher-training programme, giving us a close look into how a full-length class—especially a 45-minute session—is structured and executed.

There were three demonstrations for each optional subject, held in the respective optional classrooms. The schedule originally allotted time slots between 9:15 a.m. and 12 noon, with: First demonstration: 11:15 – 12:00, second demonstration: 12:00– 12.45 and Third demonstration:12.45-1.30pm.

The demonstrations were incredibly valuable, as the seniors showcased how various teaching skills come together to create an effective classroom environment. Some of the skills they incorporated included: skill of Ict, skill of Explanation, skill of Stimulus Variation, skill of Reinforcement etc.

One of the most impactful elements was the use of ICT tools. The seniors showed us how multimedia can make lessons more clear, engaging and effective. The seniors also used charts, visual aids, and activity-based tasks to demonstrate how learning by doing and activity based learning makes abstract concept more clear.

The only downside was that the 45-minute format wasn’t fully followed—most demonstrations ended within 30 minutes. Still, the content delivered was rich and meaningful and there were slight pauses in between too.

We acted as the students taking turns to create a classroom atmosphere.

Even within the shorter duration, the seniors gave us a thorough insight into macro-teaching—how to manage time, plan a full lesson, integrate skills, and maintain student engagement. Overall, the demonstration was effective, informative, and encouraging.

Since the next day was a public holiday due to election and since our college was a booth, we had only half-day classes, and the college dispersed by 1:30 p.m. However, the demonstration was conducted efficiently within the allotted time.

Union and Arts day Inauguration : A Day of Energy, Unity and Unforgettable Moments

The much-awaited Union and Arts Inauguration of our college was held on  05 Friday, 2025, marking a vibrant gathering of students, teachers, and distinguished guests. Though the event was scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM, an unexpected power failure and the delay in generator setup pushed the inauguration to 10:40 AM. Yet, the excitement and spirit of the day remained untouched.

The ceremony commenced with a formal inauguration, smoothly anchored by Alina and Amina, who kept the audience engaged throughout the session. The program began with a soulful prayer, setting a peaceful and positive tone for the day. This was followed by the welcome address by our Principal, who highlighted the importance of student leadership and unity.

One of the most anticipated highlights of the event was the logo reveal of our College Union – Deeksha 2025. Executed through an innovative and visually appealing presentation led by our General Secretary along with the union members and our classmates, the reveal received an enthusiastic response from the audience.

After the logo presentation, we were blessed with an inspiring speech from our College Manager. This was followed by the Presidential Address by our Chairman, who shared valuable insights on leadership and responsibility.

The stage then welcomed our esteemed guests, Aisha Potti and Adwaith Guinness, who delivered thoughtful and motivating inaugural speeches, enriching the occasion with their presence.

As the Vice Chairperson, I had the honour of presenting the Union Message, expressing our collective vision and aspirations for the academic year. We also heard heartfelt messages from Praveena Ma’am and Sheeja Ma'am, representing the faculty.

After the formal ceremony, the campus soon transformed into a hub of creativity and celebration. The cultural events, undoubtedly the most interesting segment of the day, brought together students from various groups who showcased: group song, fusion performance, mimicking various ads and it culminated with the general dance performance.

By 4:00 PM, the excitement reached its peak with the electrifying performance by the The Clock Tower Band. Their energetic set kept everyone on their feet, dancing, singing along, and enjoying each moment. The musical celebration concluded at 5:30 PM, leaving the campus buzzing with joy.

It was not just an event—it was a celebration of teamwork, creativity, and the unbreakable spirit of our student community. As union members, we were immensely proud and grateful to have successfully organized such a dynamic and memorable day. The enthusiasm of the students and the support of the faculty made it truly special. Our days of hardship had brought out such a spectacular day and in the end we were happy and satisfied, in the belief that we were able to create a beautiful day for our teachers and students.

My Micro-Teaching Experience: A Step Toward Becoming a Better Teacher

Our college conducted the micro-teaching session on 3rd October 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and it turned out to be one of the most insightful experiences in my teacher training journey. Each student was assigned a specific teaching skill to present. We were given 15 minutes in total—3 minutes to introduce the skill, 5–7 minutes to handle the actual class, and the remaining time for feedback and evaluation. For the English Department, micro-teaching was divided over two days. Sixteen students presented on 3rd December, while the remaining eleven had their session on 4th December. My slot was on 3rd December, from 11:15 to 11:30a.m. My classmates kindly acted as my students, adding a touch of realism to the experience.

I presented the Skill of Stimulus Variation, and the chapter I handled was “The Shield of Courage.” To create an engaging introduction, I followed my lesson plan closely and began by showing an image of Neerja Bhanot and the poster of the movie Neerja. This helped set the context and immediately caught the attention of my “students. After the introduction, I explained the passage, ensuring I applied the components of the skill wherever possible. Then i asked few questions to check their understanding to further exhibit my other essential components. Thankfully, my classmates cooperated well, which made it easier for me to demonstrate the skill effectively.

After my presentation, my teacher provided her feedback. She mentioned that I appeared a bit angry, but also added that the students were slightly naughty and my reaction was quite natural. She was  satisfied with my session. She appreciated my speech, intonation, and feedback strategies, and advised me to focus more on body movement during the class.

Some of my classmates were asked to re-teach because they either didn’t complete the full 5 minutes or couldn’t exhibit the skill properly.

All in all, the micro-teaching session gave me a thorough insight into my strengths and the areas I need to polish. It shaped my understanding of classroom management, skill execution, and self-confidence—preparing me well for the upcoming macro-teaching sessions.
