On 11th December 2025, as part of our EDU 01 paper, we had the opportunity to attend an inspiring workshop led by Dr. John sir from BVET, Chattanoor. The session, conducted in the seminar hall from 10.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m., focussed on the theme Leadership training.
John Sir approached the topic in a highly engaging way. Through a variety of interactive games, he helped us realize that leadership is not limited to one skill or trait. Instead, it is a combination of several components such as spontaneity, quick decision-making, and the ability to distinguish between right and wrong in dynamic situations. Each activity encouraged us to step out of our comfort zones and think critically, allowing us to reflect on our own potential as leaders.
One of the most impactful parts of the workshop was sir's emphasis on the teacher’s role in shaping students’ lives. Using real-life examples from counseling sessions, he highlighted the importance of recognizing the diversity within an inclusive classroom. He reminded us that as future educators, we are likely to meet students with intellectual disabilities, hyperactivity, introversion, and various other behavioral differences.
Sir stressed that these children must be treated with the same warmth and normalcy as any other student. He gave us practical strategies on how to support, include, and uplift them in the classroom environment. His slides beautifully captured how a teacher can act as a leader, mentor, and change agent, helping every child feel valued and empowered.
The workshop concluded with a heartfelt feedback session, where students shared their thoughts and learning experiences. One student expressed her happiness in meeting Sir again, as she had previously visited his center— a special school for children with diverse needs. Her words reflected the admiration and respect many of us felt for John sir dedication and expertise.
As the day came to an end, we were left with a deeper understanding of what leadership truly means in the field of education. The session broadened our perspective on dealing with learners of varied backgrounds and behaviors. More importantly, it reminded us that teachers hold the power to transform lives—not just through knowledge, but through empathy, guidance, and inclusive leadership.
