My Experience at the Macro-Teaching Demonstration: A Glimpse Into Real Classroom Practice

The macro-teaching demonstration for the first-year B.Ed trainees was held on 08 December 2025, from 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This session was an important part of our teacher-training programme, giving us a close look into how a full-length class—especially a 45-minute session—is structured and executed.

There were three demonstrations for each optional subject, held in the respective optional classrooms. The schedule originally allotted time slots between 9:15 a.m. and 12 noon, with: First demonstration: 11:15 – 12:00, second demonstration: 12:00– 12.45 and Third demonstration:12.45-1.30pm.

The demonstrations were incredibly valuable, as the seniors showcased how various teaching skills come together to create an effective classroom environment. Some of the skills they incorporated included: skill of Ict, skill of Explanation, skill of Stimulus Variation, skill of Reinforcement etc.

One of the most impactful elements was the use of ICT tools. The seniors showed us how multimedia can make lessons more clear, engaging and effective. The seniors also used charts, visual aids, and activity-based tasks to demonstrate how learning by doing and activity based learning makes abstract concept more clear.

The only downside was that the 45-minute format wasn’t fully followed—most demonstrations ended within 30 minutes. Still, the content delivered was rich and meaningful and there were slight pauses in between too.

We acted as the students taking turns to create a classroom atmosphere.

Even within the shorter duration, the seniors gave us a thorough insight into macro-teaching—how to manage time, plan a full lesson, integrate skills, and maintain student engagement. Overall, the demonstration was effective, informative, and encouraging.

Since the next day was a public holiday due to election and since our college was a booth, we had only half-day classes, and the college dispersed by 1:30 p.m. However, the demonstration was conducted efficiently within the allotted time.
