A Day of Creativity and Calm: Arts Education Workshop

On Friday, January 23, an arts education workshop was conducted as part of our academic programme. The session was led by the resource person Miss Vidya, who handled the class with great effectiveness and efficiency right from the beginning. The workshop commenced at 10:00 a.m. and continued till 2:30 p.m., making it an enriching and productive learning experience.

During the session, Miss Vidya introduced us to various creative activities such as glass painting, card making, pyramid making, and cylinder making. Each activity was thoughtfully explained and demonstrated, allowing us to explore our creativity step by step.

What impressed me the most throughout the workshop was Miss Vidya’s approach towards teaching. She was calm, quiet, and deeply compassionate towards the students. Rather than highlighting her own skills or achievements, she focused on encouraging us, appreciating our efforts, and bringing out the best in each individual. She gave personal attention to every student, helping us improve at our own pace and making us feel confident in our abilities.

Interestingly, even as someone who previously had little to no interest in craft-related activities, I found myself gradually enjoying the class. This change was entirely due to Vidya ma’am’s positive attitude and teaching style. She was full of energy, yet gentle and loving in her interactions. Her class helped me view craft not just as an activity, but as a stress buster and a meaningful form of creative expression.

The workshop was also observed by our art teacher, Sreelekshmi ma’am, who worked alongside Vidya ma’am in supporting and guiding us throughout the session. Their collaboration created a comfortable and encouraging learning environment.

The day concluded with a feedback session led by Chairman, Christy, along with Alan, Anna,  Anandu, and other members. They highlighted the positive aspects of the workshop and even mentioned that this session was more effective and engaging compared to previous ones.

Overall, the workshop was a happy, energetic, and memorable experience. It not only enhanced our artistic skills but also left us with a deeper appreciation for creativity, patience, and encouragement in learning. It was truly a day well spent.
