Cyber Security Awareness Session: A Valuable Learning Experience for B.Ed Trainees

On 28 Nov 2025 at 3.00 to 3.30 p.m, we had the opportunity to attend an insightful Cyber Security Awareness Session conducted by two resource persons from the Career Development Centre (CDC) and Kottakkal Employment Exchange. The session was led by Ahalya Ma’am, who was warmly introduced by Unnimaya Ma’am, along with an overview of the various services and initiatives undertaken by the CDC.

At the beginning of the session, Unnimaya Ma’am highlighted the essential support that the CDC provides for students, including free coaching for competitive examinations such as NET, PSC, and SSC. She also emphasized that these classes are scheduled considering the convenience of learners, making them accessible and flexible for aspiring candidates.

The cyber awareness class taken by Ahalya Ma’am proved to be highly informative and relevant for today’s digital age. She explained various forms of online fraud—particularly romance fraud, sympathy fraud, and other deceptive strategies commonly used by cybercriminals. The session stressed the importance of being vigilant and responsible digital citizens. For B.Ed trainees, who will soon take on the role of educators and mentors, this awareness is crucial. Understanding these cyber threats equips future teachers to guide their students in navigating the online world safely and wisely.

The session concluded on a warm note as I had the privilege of delivering the Vote of Thanks, expressing our collective appreciation to the resource persons for their valuable guidance. On behalf of the entire B.Ed batch, the gesture symbolized our gratitude and respect for the efforts taken to enhance our understanding of cyber safety.

Overall, the session was a meaningful experience that enriched our professional preparedness and reinforced our responsibility as future educators in promoting digital awareness among students.
