College life is a vibrant blend of learning, leadership, and personal development. For B.Ed students—future teachers who will shape tomorrow’s classrooms—the College Union Election is more than just a student activity. It is a meaningful democratic experience that builds confidence, leadership, and social responsibility. Through elections, teacher trainees get a chance to understand the essence of democracy and practice it in real life.
Our college union election was conducted on 10 Oct, Friday where the candidates actively competed to win the election. The chairperson was unanimously selected and the election was conducted for the remaining 6 posts- Vice Chairperson, UUC, General Secretary, Magazine editor, Arts Secretary and Sports Secretary. It was a tight and breathtaking competition where it was difficult to predict who will win. The election started from 11 and ended at 12.15 and afterwards counting started in presence of the candidates and Booth Agents.
I was a candidate for the Vice Chairperson and my opponent was Ahalya, from the Maths department. After counting, both received equal votes and to select one candidate from it, a lot taking was conducted, from where I was chosen. The other winners are General Secretary, Athul( Social Science department), UUC, Allan, ( English department ), Magazine editor, Thameesha( Malayalam department ), Arts secretary, Abilekshmi ( Physical science department ) and Sports Secretary, Abhinav ( Malayalam department).
As future educators, B.Ed students carry the torch of democracy forward. When they step into classrooms one day, they won’t just teach lessons—they will inspire future generations to participate, lead, and make positive changes in society.
